We Are Not Cool & We Are Cool With That

We love playing music. Obviously.
However, already, as we begin to play more shows, festivals & meet with potential investors (i.e. record producers, agents, managers) it is evident that we are not like most musicians in our genre.

Waiting in the green room means striking up conversations with other band members. They tend to be the “cooler” version of fame with cigarette stained fingers, solemn faces, punk-distressed leather garments,HUGE Ricky martin shades, hard alcohol poured neat in hands and nary a smile.

ENTER Leo*Leo –

We’ve been told that we are all “teeth” – Okay, Sarah gets that a lot more than Vanessa.
We don’t smoke. We don’t really drink, either.
Sarah likes math problems and Vanessa geeks out for hours on guitar gear & pictures of cute animals (in need, usually).

At the risk of being pegged as “not super cool” we wanted to share this video with you. It shows us rehearsing, recording, hanging out with friends, supporting St. Bonnie’s Animal Sanctuary. It is also set to DANCING QUEEN, the recently released single.

We want to show you us. Regular us pursuing a fantastic dream – without sacrificing who we are/want to be.

Thank you 🙂 V&S

Drake’s “Hold On” is like an old school jam.

Now that I’m living in LA, I spend a lot of time in the car, which is actually something I don’t mind; it gives me plenty of time to think, write things in my head, listen, etc.  On the listening end of things, I’ve come to love 92.3 The Beat because it plays some of the widest variety of HipHop, Soul, and R&B that I’ve ever heard on commercial radio. (No, I am not affiliated with them, this is just my POV.) I can find anything from the Staple Singers to Prince to a whole giant selection of 90’s R&B to Drake, which leads me to the point of this post. After a few listens, Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home” had me feeling like the old school jams do –  a little bit dancy, a little fierce, a little romantic. (I know you know what I’m talking about.)

Sarah and I are always looking for tasty covers to perform at our shows, so I decided that I’d like to cover this with Leo*Leo. Here is a recording of my solo rehearsal. I hope you enjoy it – it’s considerably more funky when I play it alone…
